How to Read a MetaBurn Citation List Critically
This product's page publishes sixteen references, which is better practice than most. Reading them properly is a useful skill, and this list rewards the effort.
Check the species. The mangosteen citation is a study in high-fat-fed mice. Real research, not human evidence.
Check whether the ingredient is in the product. Five of the sixteen citations cover berberine, riboflavin, alpha-lipoic acid, Akkermansia muciniphila and Bifidobacterium breve — none of which appears in the six-ingredient formula shown on the same page.
Check what the paper actually claims. The curcumin citation documents mechanisms in obesity management. Documenting a mechanism is not demonstrating an outcome.
Notice the self-undermining ones. One citation is a review of lipid nano-carriers for improving the bioavailability of curcumin and resveratrol — a paper about a problem this formula gives no sign of solving.
Six ingredients are shown, not eleven
The official page opens by describing "an exclusive blend of 11 powerful ingredients including Berberine HCL, Mangosteen Powder, and breakthrough Akkermansia Muciniphila probiotics".
Its own formula section then lists six: mangosteen, konjac fibre, prickly pear, turmeric, resveratrol and cinnamon bark. Neither berberine nor any probiotic appears among them.
Five of the sixteen scientific citations at the foot of that page are also for ingredients not shown in the formula — berberine, riboflavin, alpha-lipoic acid, Akkermansia muciniphila and Bifidobacterium breve.
This website works from the six that are actually listed. If the other five matter to you, the product label is the only thing that settles it, and it is worth reading before you order.
Where MetaBurn's Botanicals Actually Sit
Grouping them honestly:
Fibre is not a botanical claim at all. Konjac glucomannan works through physics rather than biochemistry, which is exactly why it has an accepted health claim where the polyphenols do not.
Cinnamon and prickly pear have real human research on glucose markers, cinnamon's genuinely contested across meta-analyses and prickly pear's simply smaller.
Turmeric has an enormous literature, mostly outside metabolism, and a well-known absorption problem quality products solve with piperine.
